Great Basketball experience
We invited pupils from Oasis Academy Shirley Park, Croydon to come along to the Surrey Sports Park for a basketball experience. They had some professional coaching to start with followed by a meal all together. After the meal, Andrew Lawrence a GB and European team basketball player came in to talk to the pupils about his journey. He stressed the importance of good grades especially, if like him you end up going to an American college to study with a view to playing in the NBA. Many of the pupils were able to assist our trustee and videographer, Amelia Hayward with the filming, which was also a great experience for them. Following that the young people attended a Surrey Scorchers pro British Basketball League game and met some of the players afterwards.
